Michigan Lease Requirements: Security Deposit Receipt
Under Michigan law, if a Landlord collects a security deposit, the Landlord must provide the Tenant with a receipt that includes:
- The Landlord’s name and address for communications and notices.
- The name and address of the financial institution where the deposit will be held.
- Specific language about the Tenant’s obligation to provide a forwarding address within 4 days of the end of the Tenancy.
The Landlord must provide the Tenant with this receipt within 14 days of the start of the tenancy.
