Millions of Tenants have fallen behind on rent due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To help alleviate the financial pressure on Tenants and to address the issue of missed rent, some Landlords are allowing Tenants to defer rent. Doing so can be complicated, though, as Landlords must document the total amount of rent deferred as well as a repayment plan. Additionally, for deferrals due to COVID-19, it’s important to document that missed rent is due to COVID-19 hardships. Properly documenting deferred rent ensures that all missed rent is accounted for, that both parties are clear about expectations regarding deferred rent, and that there is a repayment plan in place. This form provides the necessary documentation to effectively defer rent. And, when used in combination with the COVID-19 Payment Plan Agreement, it will give Landlords all the tools they need to defer rent while still having the peace of mind that comes from knowing they’re protected.
