I am moving to a new apartment my landlord is charging me a 1 1/2 security and 1/2 month security for my cats? The total would come to 2 months rent. Is this allowed in NJ? It seems like alot of $$$

The security deposit cannot exceed more than one and one-half times the monthly rent in New Jersey. There are no stated regulations on what can or cannot be charged for a pet deposit.
