a friend of mine stayed in my house for quite some time with the agreement he would pay the utilities which were left in my name to avoid transfer fees, etc. now I want him to leave and have moved back in is there some sort of legal notice I must give him?

RE: house sitters
In Alaska if the tenancy is a Month to Month Tenancy - Written notice must be given at least 30 days prior to the rental due date, specified as the termination date in the notice.
Week to Week Tenancy - Written notice is required at least 14 days before the termination date specified in the notice.
