Forum / General Property Management / Someone broke into breezeway, am I responsible to do anything?

Tenants informed me that someone had tugged on the screen door and came into the breezway. The breezeway is only like an indoor porch between house and garage. It has 2 latched screen doors on each side with a security door at both entrances of their unit and garage. They have valuable items sitting in this breezeway, such as a deep freezer, etc. Nothing was taken but am I responsible to do anything?

hmmm... you may want to remind your tenants that if they do not have rental insurance, they may want to either get some or move their valuable items elsewhere. A screen door doesnt offer protection. it may best to advice via written notice, so that its documented.
