Landlord Question and Answer Forum
I have tenants who are going to sign a 2 yr lease. They want to paint some of the rooms. This is my first and only rental, so I am not sure how to handle this either. Sicne they are going to be here for 2 yrs, I dont mind if the paint. However I do not want to get the house back in 2 yrs ( when I might sell) and have t be all ugly colors either.
Is there a standard of somthing I can put in the lease for this? at least have them paint back to original color?
Thanks

RE: Painting
Shawn, we traditionally paint between tenants so it's something we do not mind as landlords. Since they will be there for two years, you prob will be re-painting when they move. You could suggest colors in the lease that are not permittted. Like bright colors such as shades of red or orange. Colors that are hard to paint over. Possibly permitting neutral shades, pale colors could also work.
