Landlord Question and Answer Forum
I have a 3 unit building with a unit on each of the 3 floors. Anyhow, recently a new tenant moved into the 3rd fl apt and shortly after that the 2nd fl couple started using plugin air fresheners. They have at least 3 that I know about and the smell filters up through the building to the 3rd fl. The lady has COPD and is unable to tolerate the effects of these air fresheners. They've continued to use them after I've talked to them and refused the request from the 3rd floor tenant. The lease allows the use of air fresheners as long as the smell is confined to that unit. I am trying to figure out the best course of action to make them comply. Any ideas would be welcomed!

RE: Air Freshener Problems
Send them a violation notice about the odor, and tell them that you will be forced to take them to court for breach of lease if they don't correct the violation.
