Landlord Question and Answer Forum
Is it legal to collect a years worth of rent up front? I have a potential tenant who has the money and wants to pay a years worth of rent up front. Anybody know if there is a problem with this?

RE: Multiple months rent.
Be extra carefull, there some scams out there like this , Iam not saying this is one, Did you check there back ground and once there in there in . It could be totally okay as long these people are honest , I forgot how the scam went but someone wanted to pay up front and somehow the funds were taken out of the landlords account and the tenant split with the money. be careful. I myself do not even know if it is legal.

RE: Multiple months rent.
I don't see a problem with it. he is just paying multiple months at once, and before they are due. Both are common, just not to that scale.
