Landlord Question and Answer Forum
I rent without a lease one was promised over a year ago. My landlord has put the house on the market, now it is sold. The new owners take possesion June 1st. A walk through has been done and there has been no complaints. Is my current landlord entitlied to the security deposit since she no longer owns the house?

RE: security deposit
Your Security Deposit moves with the rental agreement. Therefore, your old landlord would have to give it to your new landlord, who would have to follow the procedures of your state for return. Hopefully since you have no Lease, you do have proof of your security deposit.
