Landlord Question and Answer Forum
I have a tenant that put up a pool 4 ft deep without asking, what is my proper action , I really do not mind but what is the proper way about this . On my lease there is nothing about pools . I have to know if they can insure people that go in it or have them take it down .

RE: WALLY POOL
Does your lease specify that any changes to the property require written permission. If so, than you can use that as a defense. BUT considering those type of pools can cause damage, you are within your rights to send them a letter and put them on notice. One other thought......contact your insurance company and check liability issues on tenant having a pool such as this.

RE: WALLY POOL
Pools are a real liablilty issue with tenants. If someone gets hurt, slips on a deck, drowns (God forbid) or any other injury, you may be sued. I would strongly caution against allowing them to have one.
