Landlord Question and Answer Forum
I've taken over a 3 family with existing tentant. I've asked the tentents to provide updated infomation. One tentent refuses to provide their SS #. Do I legally have the right to request their SS#?

RE: Social Security Number
Michael, you do have a legal right to obtain the tenants social security number. You want to ensure that you are able to complete background checks, credit checks, and/or employment verification. In addition to that you want to ensure that if they become delinquent and are evicted you are able to seek judgments and recover those damages.
