Landlord Question and Answer Forum
A foreign military service member and family are being stationed at a US military base here for a one year exchange tour and are applying for rent. No one in their family has a US Social Security # or any US credit history. Any advice with respect to the typical credit checks a landlord would do?

RE: Foreign Tenants
The referenced article was interesting, but mainly focused on legal vs. illegal immigrants and did not address my question. How does a landlord run a credit check on a foreigner with no US Social Security number?

RE: Foreign Tenants
If the family is under US Military orders, you probably will not have a problem with having rent paid on time. If you do, all you have to do is contact the Commanding Officer who will rectify the situation ASAP. I suggest that you contact the Officer in charge and discuss your concerns with him/her.
