Landlord Question and Answer Forum
I was wondering if you all require renters insurance form your tenants. Is that common practice? I am a landlord in Oregon.

RE: Rental Insurance
Denise S., PA has responded to this question in an earlier post. I only demand that tenant get one if I allow pets. They MUST give me a copy of the insurance BEFORE they move in.....no exceptions. I also state in my lease that LL has insurance to cover LL and that tenant should consider obtaining an insurance policy for their protection. I also encourage them to contact an insurance agent to discuss their situation.
