I had a tenant in Calif. that did not pay the full rent at the start of the month ( $525 of $625 rent). I had a 1 year lease with them ( 9 months to go). Later in the month I gave them a three day notice for the short rent, but I really wanted them out. They moved out 8 days before the month was over. I got new tenants on the first of the next month. Do I own them 8 days rent from their deposit?

I doubt they would take you to court over 8 days' rent, and that's what they'd have to do to try and get it back from you. Just a thought, Brian
