RE: Damage Deposit vs Security Deposit
I'm in iowa. As far as our leases go, a security deposit is to cover damage, upon move out. Not past due rent. I have had to remind tenants in the past about this when making repairs to damages at properties. So I think what your refering to is one in the same. Also, since your new at this; Do not wait until the tenant moves out to fix stuff that they damage. Security deposits can go very quickly. Fix the damnage they cause and bill them for the charges.
