Landlord Question and Answer Forum
I live in Alabama and let a friend stay with me on January 15th 2009. We had oral aggreement that he would stay a couple of weeks. We also agreed he would contribute to the mortgage/utilities for the time he stayed. To this date he hasn't paid a dime. I have asked him to leave on March 15th and on May 1st. He still refuses to leave giving every excuse in the book. He is running up my utilities and my only income is from a disability check. What is the procedure for evicting him out of my home?

RE: evicting friend staying with me in my house
First, you have to serve him with an eviction notice to vacate (see the Eviction Forms section of this site if you need the form), then you wait the prescribed number of days, then if he hasn't vacated you file for eviction in your local rent court. Best of luck!
