Landlord Question and Answer Forum
How do you handle a tenant that refuses to keep the doors to the rental house locked. The house is on a busy street with lots of traffic, but the entrance is secluded.
I am renting by the room with all the occupants jointly and severably liable for damage to the house. The roommates have asked her to lock the door when she leaves, I have sent a letter to all of the tenants reminding them of the agreement to keep the house secure when they are not in the home and to let me know if there are any issues with the lock or door so I can repair it.
The door continues to be left unlocked by one of the tenants and she is typically the last to leave the house in the morning.
Any ideas?

RE: Keeping property secure/locked
Get an electronic lock that always locks as soon as the door is closed.
