Landlord Question and Answer Forum
In my apartment complex, I live next door to my landlord. Our doors are side by side. The owner of the complex, who happens to be her daughter, has placed cameras in certain areas. Ok fine. My question is, she has place a camera pointing at her door which is far enough to also see my door. Is that considered a violation of my privacy?

RE: Camera Surveillance?
Where you notified and given the opportunity to deny the installation of camera or back out of the lease? If not and they can see into your property or into a private yard area yes you may have been violated. However if it is considered a common place or area or walking route it may not be. Will it infringe on your actual privacy or put you in danger? Does it provide more protection? Consider these things before you speak with a lawyer, or talk directly to the owner or landlord to make yourself feel more comfortable.
