can i as a landlord tell a tenant he has to get rid of his pets without alease signed. i rented without a lease because i did not want to be bound by one i rented to him on a trial basis of having his dogs. now i have problems and want to dogs gone how can i do that. in iowa

Andy, you just have to follow the requirements for notice to vacate for Iowa. If your tenant pays monthly, I believe you must give them a full month's written notice. I would think you could say something in your notice that- "Due to problems and concerns with your dogs, I am asking that you either remove the pets or vacate the premises on or before 30 days on (date).
