Landlord Question and Answer Forum
Few questions related to tenant screening:
Am I allowed to ask for copy of license in NJ and keep it for record?
Am I allowed to ask to see last two paycheck ? It's ok not to keep copy though?
Thanks,
Nimit

RE: Copy of license.
Hi Nimit,
You can absolutely obtain a copy of the prospects drivers license and copies of their last two pay stubs. As a private landlord (assuming that's you) it's up to you whether or not you keep copies of the information. It's probably a good idea to do so as long as you have somewhere safe to keep them.

RE: Copy of license.
It is a good idea to keep the identification document of the tenant. Make sure to screen the tenants before renting out an apartment. I personally use tenant screening services from Hunter Rentals & Property Management, a real estate consultants in Killeen. For tenant screening process, you can also find real estate agents in your area.
