Landlord Question and Answer Forum
We are about to approve a rental application to a young couple who would co-sign the lease. One of them have a home business, with a unusual large amount of annual income. He didn't release his email, nor the registered legal name of the business. Is there any specifics that we as landlord should be aware of,? Is it legal or proper to ask for further details about his home business?

RE: Lease to someone with a home-based business?
If you run a credit score or employment history you should find some track of income. If there is not that may be a red flag but as long as everything is written into the lease properly you and your property should be protected. Make sure to have extra addendum's like the marijuana and illegal activity.

Good idea to have addendum... Thanks for the advise!
The applicants backed out when asked for bank statements. Still, we didn't receive any employment history, nor the name of their home-based health care business.
