Is it common practice for an owner of a company requesting to rent to give
ss# personal bank account info and their investments and debts in a financial statement?

RE: financial data of owners of companies
If you are screening a tenant it is common to get as much information as possible on the tenant. Having the SS# and finical data is not only for the security of the landlord and protection of the property but to also make sure that after the lease starts the tenant will be able to make payments and do not have a history of default. Some states do recommend or require an inspection to make sure that there is safe and locked area in the office or house for secure information.
