Landlord Question and Answer Forum
I have a tenant that was supposed to move in to my property 1 Aug. I allowed them to sign a lease in April and accepted a security deposit to secure the property. She is military and is now diverted and not moving. I am prepared to do an addendum to cancel the lease, but can I retain the deposit since I may incur cost associated with taking the house off the market and lost potential renters (I'm having to relist the property)?

RE: Military Tenant
I do not think you can retain the deposit.
