My tenants just notified me by phone they are buying a house and close in the end of August (next month) and therefore will not be renewing. His current lease ends on Aug31. Our lease states 90 days non-renewal notice by either party is required, and lease automatically renews for the same lease terms (1 year) in event of renewal. ... and notice has to be in writing (he just called and told me over the phone). Do I have any recourse in expecting rent from him for the next 3 months to fulfill this 90 days? The property in question is in VA. Thank you!
