Landlord Question and Answer Forum
My HOA has a 25 lb. weight limit for pets. Does this apply to companion animals?

RE: Companion animals
If it is a Service animal or emotional support animal they aren't pets and must be given reasonable accommodations . You may have to provide a note from your doctor stating that you have a disability and the animal helps you cope with the disability and/or improve the symptoms.

RE: Companion animals
No, no, no. Emotional support animals are not recognized by the ADA. Only PROFESSIONALLY trained and certified service animals quaily.
Good luck

RE: Companion animals
The other replies should check the laws. No one can ask for papers for a companion or service animal, nor can they deny them into your home. Please check out the Fair Housing Act.
