Landlord Question and Answer Forum
I am a landlord of one rental unit. I asked my tenant last week to provide me with a paper copy of their renters insurance. I gave them 10 days to provide me with a copy. My tenant is trying to send it via email and i dont do business through my email. I asked for a paper copy and they are refusing to get it for me. I dont even check my email and like to have paper records. Are my tenants in violation for not providing me written proof of renters insurance?

RE: Renters insurance
Shelley........Depending on your lease, the answer may be YES......Consider have landlord(s) added to the insurance policy as "Additional Insured." The insurance company will mail you a copy and will also notify you when the policy is renewed or canceled. This should also allow you to place a claim if tenant refuses to....check with agent.
