In NYS: Gave tenant 45 day notice, have to break a lease that expires in a few months. tenant provisionally agreed to move by 8/1, then decided that he is " going to stay" until he gets something "suitable". I have an elder family member that has no place to go and I asked the tenant to move Any thoughts and constructive comments are appreciated

No immediate solution…… 1. Either wait it out, or…… 2. Hire a lawyer to start an eviction. This will probably take longer. However, this may be a better option if you feel the tenant may remain over a month…….Talk nicely to tenant and try to get a better understanding of their situation.
