My tenant passed away before the end of the lease term. The ex-wife of the tenant who is not on the lease, requested the security deposit. Should I return the security deposit to the ex-wife or should it go to the estate of the deceased tenant? I think it should go to the estate but have not found anything online for this situation. Thanks.

YES! It would definitely be returned to the estate of the deceased tenant not the ex. :( That's so sad. Was it a good tenant?

Definitely should be returned to the ESTATE!! She has no right to it. If she wants it she can call her ATTORNEY! WOW!! Shame on her!
