Last month and security deposit and first month

I haven't prepared a new lease in several years. I noticed only security deposit is included in first payment. Is there a new law banning last month's rent?

There should not be this is at the preference of the landlord. Just be sure to have it all noted in the lease of what was collected at the signing.
