Landlord Question and Answer Forum
I allowed my 20 year old daughter to move into the home I have a signed rent to own contract on in Louisana. I have asked her to find somewhere else to live due to personal differences she refuses to vacate and the sheriff department in my parish told me I have to have her evicted. I obtained the proper forms from the Justice of the Peace today and reading the forms and the process I have to serve her a 5 day notice to vacate. As a non rent paying occupant not on the rental contract do I have to give her a 5 day notice to vacate or can I request eviction as property owner?

RE: non rent paying occupant
Billie,
Eviction is a process, which in most states begin with the written notice (5 days in your case). In most states, you haven't properly evicted someone without first serving the required notice.
