Landlord Question and Answer Forum
My month to month tenant just left town yesterday. He left a note for his roommate stating he had left town and was not coming back. He left instructions for the roommate to sell all of his belongings to pay his portion of the rent. The roommate does not feel comfortable dealing with his stuff, so he is leaving to. My question is this; is there a certain amount of time that I have to keep his belongings before I can begin selling them? Any advice would help. Thanks, Brian

RE: Tenant skips town
Different states require a different amount of time. Normally you would sent out a letter stating the amount of days you will hold the property before the tenant picks it up. If the tenant does not, you can dispose/sell the property.
