Landlord Question and Answer Forum
I'm in Texas and my tenant's employer is transferring them (or they would be laid off) to another state. Am I supposed to release them? Can't find that info on the State of Texas website.
Thanks for any help

RE: Tenant Transfer Ending Lease
That's really up to you. In most states, you can hold the tenant responsible for "actual damages," or actual rent lost because of their early termination. I would have them keep the place immaculate and bring some new tenants through there to try and sign a new lease agreement before the old tenants move out.
