Landlord Question and Answer Forum
Good Evening, I live in Maryland and I have been on a month-to-month lease for about 3 years now. I have recently received a job in another state and I have given notice to my apartment complex. I gave the leasing office a letter dated November 1st that I will be moving out December 17th. I asked for them to give me a letter with pro-rated rent and utilities for the month of December. I am now being told that I have to pay for the whole month of December regardless of me moving in the middle of the month. Can the apartment complex do this?

RE: Pro-rate of Rent
Yes they can, as you're on a month to month lease, not a week to week lease or a day to day lease.
