Forum / Move-Out & Eviction / Security deposit
I have a tenant that is moving out before the end of the lease. The tenant had the lease with the previous owner and paid security to previous owner. I, the current owner, received only 1100 from previous owner as the security deposit and the tenant is stating that she paid 2000. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

RE: Security deposit
What amount does the lease indicate the tenant paid for the deposit? If it says 2000 try to get a hold of the former owner and ask for the $900. Of coarse since she is moving out before the end of the lease she should be paying for the time the place is empty until you can get new tenants.

RE: Security deposit
The lease indicates 1100. Thanks for the info.
