Landlord Question and Answer Forum
I'm a landlord. The clothing consignment shop renting my building has been closed by tax authorities. The tenant has no record of consignees due to a computer crash. The tenant will sign over contents to me for back rent owed. Should I run a creditor announcement in the paper, and if so for how long? Or is there a better way to let consignees know that I have no liability for their items?

RE: consignment tenant
Contact an attorney that handles these unique situations. Although the owners property may rightfully be yours if it is on consignment the situation may be different. In this case the consignees would most likely need to reclaim from the business owner directly not you.
