I am wondering if I hire and attorney to go to court for me, do I need to be there as well.

As long as the lawyer is representing you they will be able to be there in court for you but if you are going to hire a lawyer they will be able to tell you exactly what they will do and what you are responsible for.

Do it your self, it will save you a ton of money--attorneys rape you with fees. Call the court and they will tell you all the processes you have to go through. I started doing this when I was 22 years old and figured it all out by talking to the court clerks.
