Landlord Question and Answer Forum
Hello,
We are about to rent out my husband's townhouse. Technically, the townhouse was purchased before we were married and is under my husband's name. In our rental lease, we'd like us both to be considered landlords. Is that legal even though my name is technically not on the house?
Thanks!!

RE: Can wife be considered a landlord?
Jen,
The answer is, it depends. Even though your husband owned the townhouse before the two of you were married, if you can prove you've been paying on the mortgage since you've been married, you legally have some claim to the home. Hope this helps.
