Landlord Question and Answer Forum
My tenants and I have agreed on a 2-year lease. They will be moving in approximately mid month and I know that the rent for that first month will be prorated. What I am unsure about is, when does the two-year lease period begin? The lease says that the term begins on the first of xxx month, would this then be the first of the following month, or the first of the month they actually move in?

RE: Moving in mid month, when does the lease begin?
It sounds like you would be better off starting the lease from the exact date. Instead of having it s "1 year" or "2 year" lease, you could have custom dates. You really want to stick to the lease as best as you can.
