We have tenants that were on a yearly lease agreement. The lease agreement expired and they still live there.
We did not sign another lease agreement because we were thinking of selling the property but now they stopped paying rent and I need to know if the lease agreement turned into month to month agreement automatically or do we not have any agreement at this point?

If the lease is silent on the renewal issue, then generally speaking, in most states, a lease is considered month to month unless a tenant pays rent in different installments, for instance, week to week. Some leases contain where permitted, a renewal of an entire term if no notice is given. Under these circumstances, the tenant would be liable for the balance of the lease renewal term until such time the landlord obtains a replacement tenant,
