Forum / Leasing Issues / Returned Security Deposit
I had my tenant sign the lease. She gave me 2 separate checks for the security deposit- 1 for 400 and 1 for 1000. The 1000 check bounced. She then told me that she would take care of it within 3 days- a week later, a 400 deposit showed up in my account. The tenant still owes me 600 for the secutiry deposit. She is supposed to move in on June 1, but will not return my phone calls or e-mails. Do I have the right to terminate her lease? I live in Nevada. Thank you Julie

RE: Returned Security Deposit
I would cancel the lease agreement due to non-payment of the security deposit, which was one of the terms upon which the lease was signed in the first place. If you've given them keys, you'll need to change the locks, and you'll need to refund the money they did pay.
