Landlord Question and Answer Forum
Our tenant just left for work for 3 months and her friend showed up last night to sleep over. We were not informed of anyone staying while the tenant is away. She only informed us of travel plans and that the friend would be using her car. The unit is on our property, behind our house. Do we have the right to say that she cannot stay here? Again, the tenant did not inform us and we do have a "no subletting" clause as well as Lease states that any change to occupancy must be approved in writing.

RE: Guest staying overnight while tenant is away traveling?
When i go away i like to hire a house sitter. Someone to water the plants and bring the mail in. Sometime i offer they stay in my place while they do so and sometimes i just pay them. If its a close friend, most likely she is doing the same thing.
