Landlord Question and Answer Forum
Hi there, if a tenant passes away, does their lease become null and void at the point they pass or is it still in place till the end of the month they have paid...in this case, tenant passed in July but rent is paid till end of august.

RE: Termination of lease when tenant passed away
Hey there
When the tenant passes it is difficult, but I believe it goes to the executor. If it is a month to month lease, the notice of the tenants death is the end of the lease and the executors responsibility will end 30 days after the tenant last paid rent.
