Landlord Question and Answer Forum
Last year's lease was to "begin on August 24, 2014 and will end on June 1, 2014." The tenants stayed until the morning of the 4th. The agreement was to prorate extra days. They say they should only pay for the 2nd and 3rd - so two days extra. I thought it would be three day extra. Thoughts?

RE: prorated time
You should calculate the pro rated rent for every day in the rental unit. If they were in the unit on the 4th, they should be charged accordingly. Rent is charged by day, not hour. So June 2, June 3, and June 4.
