my terms verbally were for my Home to be rented for 6 months on a lease then month to month.
After running the credit, I do not want to give a 6 month lease to this possible tenant. I am open
to renting to her, but only month to month. I am breaking any CA State laws by changing the verbal

If you have not signed the lease you may change it before signing as long as the tenants accept those new terms. There are no laws broken for a lease that has not been signed, if you have to change the lease terms or break the lease you will need to try to have a mutual termination of lease drawn up that you can both agree to.
