If a tenant and landlord agree to extend a current lease, is the real estate rental agency that drew up the original document on behalf of the landlord entitled to an additional commission or can this just be a private agreement in writing between the landlord and the tenant?

If you have a property management agreement with the real estate agency, I would go through them to create the lease extension or renewal. If not, I would just create an agreement between the landlord and tenant.
