Landlord Question and Answer Forum
What documentation does the gov. look for to prove personal ownership of property for 2 years? The property has been rental for 10 and I'm now looking at living in it myself to avoid taxes.Would it be utility bills and tax info?

RE: Own Property 2 Years Avoid Tax
Not sure what you mean by "personal ownership". You must have owned property 5 yrs and live in it for 2 of the 5 yrs......If it’s your primary residence as you’re selling it, it could be as simple as drivers license, voter registration, utility bills. . -----Disclaimer: Since I’ve been answering a lot of questions, I thought I would make the following statement. I’m not affiliated with EZlandlord Forms. I’m just here (not sure how long) to help those that have questions. Having 40+ yrs with Rental Property and done well, it’s my way of “Pay it Forward (check out the movie).” However, it is up to you to become familiar with your State/Local laws. I always like to know if the suggestions I offer are helpful. Feel free to comment anytime. Thanks in Advance.
