I bought a home that was a singular modular home and the former owner was turning it in to a duplex when he lost it i have come to find out that he did not get building permits to do the work and we now have both units rented out i am wondering if their is anything i need to do to make the building legal

I believe you would need to contact your cities housing department. You would need to apply for dual residency, for multi unit housing vs single.
