Landlord Question and Answer Forum
We are California Landlords, and our last tenant was involved with illegal drug transactions. We had to get involved with the Federal Agents via meeting personally and many phone conversations. Can we charge the tenant for our time involved with that matter?
Also, in the process of the tenant repairing our home after leaving. He and his hired worker involved us numerous times for inspections of the property. Can we charge the tenant for our time involved in doing that?
Thank you!

RE: Charging for time above & beyond the NORM!
You can try to withhold that money from the security deposit; the tenants would have to take you to court to contest it, and they probably won't be willing to do that.
