Landlord Question and Answer Forum
Lease ending next month.
Tenants habitually late or paid partial weekly or biweekly throughout term of lease.
Now the couple have split.
We've been contacted by perspective new landlord for reference. (large apartment complex)
Should be advise new perspective landlord of payment pattern?
Most likely tenants may fail Credit Check without our reference.
Should we wait to give reference? or should be advise of tenant's payment pattern?

RE: Giving Tenant Reference
It's tough, because by being honest, you're shooting yourself in the foot, as the tenants will end up staying in your rental property if they can't get a place elsewhere. I think you need to follow your moral compass on this one; maybe you can be honest that the tenants have often been late, but also include something nice to say about them (such as "but they are presently current on their rent").
