Month to month increase in residential properties

I am writing up a new lease for properties I have in Virginia and Illinois. After the year lease without renewal automatically goes month to month can I raise that rent a certain percentage to go month to month legally?

With sufficient notice, yes. Generally 30 days, more in some jurisdictions.
